Ebisu Fishing Rod walkthrough

The Rod:


The Items:
You need these two items:

The Fish:

bait: Drill Calamary (EX)
location: Selbina-Mhaura ferry (pirate run only)


bait: Dwarf Pugil (EX)
location: Lufaise Meadows (lagoon)
stamina: Ryugu Titan / Takitaro -like
notes:
- you can catch Lik without "Mooching" key item (personally tested)
- you can get line breaks
- you can catch monsters (Greater Pugil) when fishing with Dwarf Pugil

Trade Gugrusaurus or Lik to Zaldon - he'll gut it and maybe you'll get an item.

The Bait:
These fish can be caught using 2 new baits:


Both of them come from another Zaldon harakiri:
- Drill Calamary -> trade Sea Zombie to Zaldon (25% chance)
- Dwarf Pugil -> trade Cave Cherax to Zaldon (25% chance)

Sea Zombie
Location: Selbina-Mhaura ferry (Pirate run only)
Bait: Meatballs
Rod: Lushang preferred

Cave Cherax
Location: Kuftal Tunnel, near Phantom Worm spawn, I-6)
Bait: Meatballs
Rod: Lushang preferred

In order to catch CC - follow these rules:

Something caught the hook!!!
You have a terrible feeling about this one...
= 100% Cave Cherax - this one will be the most frequent one - it's completely safe - catch this.

You are positive you don't have enough skill to reel this one in!
= 100% Cave Cherax - occurs sometimes - but it's safe too

Something caught the hook!!!
You're fairly sure you don't have enough skill to reel this one in.
= ~50% Cave Cherax - this is a tricky one - release if you don't want to fight Scavenger Crab / Stygian Pugil / Devil Manta, fight if you want to catch monsters OR cave cheraxes Smile doesn't come often, so let go to be 100% sure.

Release all other (as they are monsters / items):

The Key Items:
But first - u need to get these key items
Serpent Rumors (95 000 guild points, available from Adept status - fishing 78+)
You need Serpent Rumors to:
- trigger Irmilant quest (Indomitable Spirit)
- catch new legendary fish (you won't catch them without Serpent Rumors even with new bait + Mooching!)

The Quest:
When you receive the Serpent Rumors key item go to Rabao and talk to Irmilant (the guy who fixes your LuShang)

He will give a new quest:
Indomitable Spirit
Client: Irmilant (Near the oasis, Rabao)
Summary:
Irmilant has asked you to bring the two base materials required to craft a legendary fishing rod. These materials seem to have found their way into the bellies of sea creatures that still elude the finest fishermen.

When you start the quest Irmilant says:

Irmilant : So, you have heard the Serpent Rumors.
Irmilant : There is more to the rumor than you know. The branch and the thread that those monstrosities have swallowed are the base materials for a legendary fishing rod.
Irmilant : Should you manage to obtain those materials, bring them here to me. I am the only one left alive who can craft the rod of legend


When you bring him the items Irmilant says:

Summary:

  1. Get fishing to level 78
  2. Get both key items from the fishing guild (Mooching + Serpent Rumors)
  3. Fish many Sea Zombies / Cave Cheraxes
  4. Trade Sea Zombies / Cave Cheraxes to Zaldon to get Drill Calamary / Dwarf Pugil bait
  5. Fish many Gugrusaurus (ferry, with Drill Calamary) and Lik (Lufaise Meadows (lagoon) with Dwarf Pugil)
  6. Trade Gugrusaurus / Lik to Zaldon to get Opal Silk / Saber Shoot
  7. Trade Opal Silk / Saber Shoot to Irmilant
  8. Wait 1 day
  9. Receive your Ebisu Fishing Rod
